The Art of Living founded by Sri Sri in year 1981, is one of the most widespread and globally renowned spiritual organisation known for its humanitarian activities, educational and stress relief programs. Sri Sri Ravi Shankar  was born on 13th May 1956 (age 57) in Papanasam, Tamil Nadu, India.  The art of sudarshan kriya came to him after spending several days in silence in his 20’s. After discovering this art he started teaching meditation and kriya.

He founded The Art of Living in 1981 as an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organization.He holds degrees in, both, Vedic literature and physics. Reverently referred as Sri Sri,he has inspired millions around the world with a vision of a stress-free, violence-free world. He is a humanitarian ambassador and a spiritual leader, meditation teacher and a peace advocate. He has won many awards such as Highest civilian award 'National Order of Merito de Comuneros, Paraguay, Sept 13, 2012, Honorary Citizenship and Goodwill Ambassador, Houston, USA, 2008, Culture in Balance Award, World Culture Forum, Dresden Germany, October 10, 2009, Phoenix Award, Atlanta, USA, 2008, Sant Shri Dnyaneshwara World Peace Prize, Pune, India, Jan 11, 2007 to name a few. He has also authored many acclaimed books like Be A Witness: The Wisdom of the Upanishads (1999), Celebrating Silence: Excerpts from Five Years of Weekly Knowledge 1995–2000 (2001)

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's aims at a violence and stress-free society and has expressed it in numerous service initiatives that inspired volunteers worldwide to carry these forward with his guidance. He is engaged in

Sri Sri says that every emotion has a corresponding rhythm in the breath and regulating breath could help relieve personal suffering.
